Day 8’s challenge was to add shading to a given image based on the defined light source. The same image was repeated multiple time in the reference sheet, with the light coming in at different angles in each variation. Here’s one sample image provided. We were supposed to print out the reference sheet and addContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 8”
Day 7’s challenge had simple instructions – draw any subject you are passionate about. However, the challenge was not that easy to complete, I thought about it a little and decided to draw my pet dog, Cheeku. As of now, although I’m fairly decent at drawing after looking at an existing drawing or photo (inContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 7”
Day 6’s challenge was to draw one of the four suggested subjects in Cubist style, which was made popular by Pablo Picasso. Frankly, I must say I don’t really ‘get’ Picasso or the Cubism style. In many of the Picasso’s paintings, I can’t even figure what exactly is being depicted. The course I’m doing alsoContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 6”
Last couple of days were extra busy at work so I couldn’t get back to the drawing challenge. So I can see that I’m not going to finish the 21 Day challenge in 21 calendar days. Not sure if thatContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 4”

We were supposed to print out the reference image and then draw a sketch. However as I don’t own a printer, I drew my sketch digitally. I’ve interpretedContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 3”
Day 2’s challenge was to draw images with a single continuous line, that is, without taking your pencil off the paper. A number of drawings were suggested. I tried them all, but I’m afraid this is the only one that came up even halfway decent. I definitely need more practice with continuous-line drawings.
I started a drawing course on Linked In called the 21 Day Drawing challenge. My purpose in joining this course is to improve my sketching skills. I have seen many blog posts where the writer has enhanced what he or she has written about with contextual sketches, and I think it would be a goodContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 1”
