Thursday Hops #21

This week’s Thursday Hops is dedicated to the ongoing farmers’ protest against the recently introduced farm laws. I won’t go into the nitty-gritties of the laws as I’m not really an expert on them. But just think, if the very farmers that these laws are claiming to protect are protesting against them, then there mustContinueContinue reading “Thursday Hops #21”

Drawing Challenge #Day 15

The Day 15 Challenge was to draw four dinosaurs, a Brontosaurus, a Stegosaurus, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Pterodactyl, but all within the limitation of three-inch square boxes. The real challenge here was to figure out how to fit their divergent shapes into one common, geometric composition — a square.  I found it easiest to fit the pterodactyl into theContinueContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 15”

On Raves and Rants

Whenever I open a newspaper, I dive straight into the Editorial and Op-Ed pages. Even as a young girl, I often dreamed about major newspapers printing my opinion on assorted matters and conveying them to people all over the country. However, I soon figured that the path to the Editor’s chair was probably paved withContinueContinue reading “On Raves and Rants”

Drawing Challenge #Day 14

Day 14’s challenge is to distort boring reality into something more interesting. The reference photo shows an old, balding man walking in the rain with a package in one hand and an umbrella in the other. The challenge is to translate it into a more dramatic, dynamic drawing.  In the reference photo, the man’s poseContinueContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 14”

Drawing Challenge #Day 13

Ok, so this is not out of the 21 Day Challenge course. Exercising my own free will, I am substituting the challenge in the course with some artwork that I did for my office this week. I participated in a collaborative art project for Women In Technology (WIT). Each participant received a package containing artContinueContinue reading “Drawing Challenge #Day 13”

Thursday Hops #20

Last week, we went to Bangalore to visit my sister. This was our first flight since the lockdown. I must say airlines are doing their best to maintain social distancing and sanitization norms. No contact check-in and boarding, alternate seating near boarding gates, gowns for the middle seat passengers, face shield, mask and sanitizer forContinueContinue reading “Thursday Hops #20”

Thursday Hops #19 – Banyan Retreat, Corbett

We did it! We took a super-mini vacation for the first time since Covid 19 struck. Many of those needing a break from the Covid-induced, stay-at-home routine have started opting for mine-breaks at resorts within driving distance of their homes. If you are travelling in your own car, it is quite safe. No risk ofContinueContinue reading “Thursday Hops #19 – Banyan Retreat, Corbett”

Thursday Hops #18

What with the Diwali festivities and tackling the work piled up afterwards, I missed posting Thursday Hops last week. So this week I’m playing catch up and posting what I ought to have posted last week. Today’s post is about my Puja corner, which was hastily put together last year when my mom was visiting.ContinueContinue reading “Thursday Hops #18”

Thursday Hops #17

After a looooong time of almost exactly an year, we got to attend a family function today. It was my nephew’s engagement. Due to the pandemic, only the immediate family – in India, ‘immediate family’ includes all brothers and sisters of the bride and groom and their families – were in attendance. In all, itContinueContinue reading “Thursday Hops #17”
